With fierce competition, companies are constantly looking for ways to bring in more business. When an entire fleet of vehicles is on the street every day, conducting business on your behalf, each of those vehicles can increase brand awareness and provide contact information to passers-by.

What are some of the ways that we can use California-based fleet vehicles to attract customers? Let’s examine a few of the possibilities:

Graphic Vehicle Wraps

One of the most effective ways to increase the recognition of your company name and imagery is with a dynamic graphic vehicle wrap. With bold colors, large type, and distinctive messaging, this form of 24-7 advertising helps spread the word, and attract attention (and new business).

Additionally, the wrap protects the vehicle from scratches and other exposure damage, increasing its potential resale value.

Magnetic Signage

Not ready for a full-on vehicle wrap just yet? Magnetic signage can also give your fleet vehicles a uniform brand image with a logo and contact information, without the cost and commitment needed to apply graphic vehicle wraps to an entire fleet.

Bumper Stickers

Considered to be a last resort, custom bumper stickers may also be used to display vehicle identification numbers and brand identification. While this option is not ideal from a marketing perspective, it is an affordable practical solution.

Personalized License Plates

In many states, fleets order customized license plates in sequence. For example, Quick Auto Tags may order plates reading QAT 1, QAT 2, QAT 3, etc. This is also an effective way to show uniformity in your brand, and to emphasize the size of your fleet.

Unfortunately, in California, it’s not that easy. There is no specific provision for issuing commercial license plates in succession, and when ordering standard vanity plates, there is a significant charge at registration, and again at renewal each year. And, each of the requested vanity plates are subject to approval.

Digital License Plates

As digital technology continues to expand, California is now undergoing a pilot program for digital license plates that are planned first for use with fleets, and later with individual vehicles. Some of the features that are reported to be under development include:

  • — 6” x 12” x 1” antireflective LCD screen
  • — Lithium-ion battery
  • — GPS tracking
  • — Accelerometer
  • — Automated registration renewal
  • — Display of company logo
  • — Motion graphics
  • — Advertising opportunities
  • — Amber alerts
  • — Weather Warnings
  • — Driver-provided messaging

While critics acknowledge the value of these features for fleet management, they are concerned that providing direct access to vehicle data will lead to an invasion of privacy.

Have you considered Permanent Fleet Registration?

The Permanent Fleet Registration (PFR) program enables fleet managers to receive monthly notification of fleet vehicle registration status in one list, instead of each individual vehicle. One of the requirements for PFR is that each vehicle must display the company logo, name, or trademark on both sides of the vehicle so that it can be read from 50 feet away.

Whether or not you qualify for the PFR program, Quick Auto Tags can streamline your DMV processing to keep you compliant and up-to-date. For more information about how Quick Auto Tags can help you manage DMV transactions for your fleet, review our services for fleets, then send us message, or give us a call at our office in Riverside: 951.476.3260.
